Student Enrichment CenterConnect & Thrive!

The Matt & Alexis Kane Student Enrichment Center is the university’s centralized hub for academic advising and student support. The Center is designed to ensure every student has the connection, guidance, and resources they need to thrive throughout their JU experience.

Our team of professional Thrive Coaches serves as the primary academic advisors for all undergraduate students. They provide proactive, personalized support—beginning before the first semester and continuing through graduation. Thrive Coaches engage students early, check in regularly, and meet face-to-face to help them navigate academic planning, connect with campus resources, and achieve their goals.

Student Enrichment CenterThrive Coaches

At 91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ, each student’s Thrive Coach serves as their Academic Advisor—a dedicated professional who provides holistic, individualized guidance throughout their time at JU. Thrive Coaches are helpers, connectors, and cheerleaders who foster a sense of belonging while empowering students to take increasing ownership of their academic journey and personal development.

Each student’s Thrive Coach is part of a broader Success Team, which also includes their Faculty Advisor, Financial Aid Counselor, and more. Together, this team ensures that students receive consistent, proactive support across all areas of their college experience—academic planning, social engagement, physical and mental wellness, and more.

Student Enrichment CenterEarly and often

The first six weeks on campus are critical in determining whether a student will thrive at JU. To impact their experience upon arrival, we must begin coaching them months before they start classes. Our Thrive Coaches begin engaging newly accepted students as they prepare to enroll in their first classes at JU. They check in, remind students about important dates and deadlines, and help answer questions. They work closely with our New Student Experience team to ensure students are enrolled in orientation and ready to hit the ground running their first semester. By the time students arrive in the fall, they have an established success network they can rely on for guidance.

Kira Kieler

Thrive Coach

Born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, I bring my love of reality TV, reading, and good conversations to everything I do—seriously, if you ever need a book rec, I’ve got you covered! I became a proud Dolphin in 2019, and earned the title of Double Dolphin in 2024 with a B.S. in Political Science and an M.B.A. from 91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ.

JU has been more than just a campus to me—it’s been a home filled with laughter, growth, and genuine support. Now, as a Thrive Coach in the Student Enrichment Center, I’m honored to return that experience to our students. My role allows me to empower first-year Dolphins as they navigate college life, helping them recognize their strengths, stay focused, and tap into the incredible potential they already have. Phins up!

I earned my B.A. at the University of North Carolina Wilmington in Recreation, Sport Leadership, and Tourism Management. I've obtained my M.S. in Organizational Leadership at 91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ. I have had exposure to program and facility management opportunities, student-staff supervision, operations, and development in the university setting. I also competed on the Men’s Track and Field team at UNCW as a jumper/sprinter and was named team captain.
I love JU and working in the Student Enrichment Center because we provide incredible support and resources, helping students thrive both academically and personally. It's truly inspiring to see how dedicated the university is to student success. I’m eager to help students establish sustainable habits that will translate to a great experience at JU. Let’s go, Dolphins!
