The Keigwin School of Nursing celebrates the accomplishments of its graduate nursing students in this special one-of-a-kind event held on the beautiful Swisher Science Green.  Surrounded by esteemed graduate nursing faculty and distinguished guests, our outstanding students will be recognized and celebrated in this intimate ceremony. 

 Students to be recognized in the ceremony:

• Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Graduates – Graduating doctoral students will be recognized for the achievement of a terminal degree. DNP graduates will be hooded by their DNP faculty chair.
• Masters of Nursing (MSN) Graduates - Graduating masters students will be recognized for their achievement of a masters degree and will be hooded.
• Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) - BSN students will be pinned.
• Award winners & select scholarship recipients. Students are notified in advance.
• Post Graduate Certificate Graduates – Students graduating with their post graduate certificate will be called on stage and recognized.

*Note: Post Graduate Certificate Students do not participate in the University Commencement Ceremony

Attire

• DNP & MSN Graduates wear graduation regalia over dressy / business clothes.
• Post Graduate Certificate Graduates wear dressy / business clothes.
• RN to BSN wear dressy / business clothes

Important Ceremony Instructions

• • There will be a photographer to photograph your special moment. A link will be emailed after the ceremony to graduates.
  • If you have a guest that needs wheelchair accommodations, please email your adviser at least 72 hours before the event.
  • Arrive between 1:45 - 2:45, the ceremony starts at 3:00 pm
  • DNP & MSN students wear your doctoral regalia. Ladies we recommend flat shoes.  Prior to the event, hang up your gown (it will be wrinkled).
  • Students wearing dress clothes, we recommend flat shoes and do not wear all white.
  • All students check in at the Keigwin School of Nursing building.  Do not bring any vaulables or children with you when you check in.  Your guests should proceed to their seats outside.  
  • You will be lined up by your assigned seat and will process into the ceremony in order.
  • DNP students who have already defended and graduated will be announced as Doctor.  Students who have not defended will be announced as Doctoral Candidate.
  • Prior to the hooding, please watch this short video on how to hold your hood.
